It generates, it does not filter
A filter edits a photo you already have. Artisse makes a new one.
That is why it needs several selfies, not one. Varied angles and lighting are what hold the likeness in situations your uploads never showed.

What it will not do
It will not make photos of other people. Upload someone else and it is rejected, public figures included.
It also will not produce a document photo. If a passport office or licensing board needs a real photograph, a generated one does not count.

- It will not make photos of other people — public figures are detected and refused — and it does not produce document photos with legal standing.
- Do I need a professional photo to start?
- No — ordinary phone selfies are what the model expects. You need three to five of them, and variety of angle and lighting matters far more than camera quality.
